Apricot Danishes
Here’s a link to a recipe that I want to try next time I have some spare time up my sleeve.

I love apricot Danishes and it was only thanks to my wonderful friend Rotae suggesting that I bring some over for breakfast when I was last in Hobart that I ever got introduced to them. So a big thanks on that front. They have changed my life. Lol. As has being introduced to the next thing on my list…
Croissants
I had no idea how AMAZING these are! Again, I was re-introduced to these at breakfast and I wish I hadn’t given up on them. The one and only time I had these before was when they were supermarket bought and not at all fresh. I thought that they were gross to begin with and because of that bad experience wrote them off entirely and decided that they weren’t for me at all! I couldn’t have been more wrong. Fresh from the bakery in the morning and smothered in raspberry jam, there is nothing better!
Other recent loves of mine (that aren’t food)…
Panic at the Disco’s new album: Vices and Virtues
Not sure what it is, but generally with albums that I buy there are a couple of songs off the album that I will skip each and every time that they come on. Most of the time there’s just something about them that just makes me think that they’re filler songs because the band or artist didn’t have anything better to put on it. Not with this album. I am really enjoying every song on their new album which I decided to buy after catching a few songs being played when I was in Sanity with Mum a couple of weeks ago. It’s not a long album (with only 10 songs) but I can see why they all made the album – which is a lot more than can be said for other bands.
Henna tattoos (or more accurately, artwork) on the hands
I think that henna artwork looks beautiful – especially on the hands! I would love to be talented enough to do this type of artwork on myself but my skills with the paintbrush would not extend anywhere near that far… so I’m not even going to try it. I’ll have to wait until I go to Hobart next and see if there are any stalls set up at the Salamanca Market which do henna art. I also like the fact that the tattoos aren’t permanent. I love the artwork of the tattoos, but could never have them permanently. I reckon I would get bored with the same thing eventually or feel like a change (which is one thing that I like about the henna as opposed to real tattoos); the fact that you aren’t stuck with one thing for the rest of your life.
And finally for tonight…
Makeup
I recently bought ‘Beautiful Eyes’ and ‘Makeup the Ultimate Guide’ both by Rae Morris (photography by Steven Chee) and they have inspired me to try new things and to expand my already quite large makeup selection. For those that have known me a very long time, I never used to wear makeup… I mean at all. But I started introducing myself to it when I was in my third year at uni and then started wearing it religiously everyday when I started my full time job back at the end of 2008. For one thing, it has helped enormously with my skin which used to be much drier and rougher than it is today but probably best of all it has given me much more confidence within myself, because if I feel more beautiful on the outside I feel the same on the inside. I’m actually really enjoying experimenting with all the different techniques that are described in the books and have tried out my experience on one person already who was pleased with the results. Mum said that I should do a course or something and use my skills as part of a job, but I am nowhere near that good and Mum says that about most of the things that spark my interest (such as my recent craft work in my previous post, which Mum thinks I could sell).
It’s lovely to know that Mum cares so much and is so supportive, but at the moment I think that these little hobbies will be just for fun.
1. Apricot danishes rock! Come up to our place next year and pick as many apricts as you like!!! That’s if you can get them before all the cockatoos do!
2. All I will say is Chocolate Croissants!! *drools* try nutella or get one with a piece of chocolate baked inside…so good for an afternoon snack!
3. Henna is awesome! It’s so versitile. I used to dye my hair with it, but better than the atrificial crap you get at the supermarket! I love the tattoos too, they’re so intricate! It must take ages to sit there and have it done. I’m the same about permanent tattoos…I like the idea in theory but I think I’d get bored too.
4. Yay for expanding collections! You’re so pretty with or without makeup! I’m glad you’re having fun with it. It’s nice to experiment! Next time I come down you can make me over…only promise you won’t make me look like Meme from the Drew Carey Show!!!
Hehe, so glad you’ve rediscovered the fabulous croissant, mmm … now I feel like popping into Jackman and McRoss and having one with oozy chocolate inside!
The Rae Morris books sound fabulous – I heard her speak once and she had so much information to share! I really wanted to buy her books, but by the time I got to the stall they were all gone bar one (which I let a friend of mine buy instead). You should put some pics up of your experiments!
xoxo
Well I can at least relate to the food ones 😉 Jackman and McRoss did both those danishes and croissants – possibly the two most unhealthy things on their menu, their danish has lashings of cream cheese, I always feel like there’s a brick in my stomach after having one of those 😀 And the croissants are so good but so, so buttery, I always feel vaguely guilty after having one (@Kat, ESPECIALLY the ones with chocolate!!)
But Nick surely you can relate to makeup 😛 hehe I invested in some new makeup the other week as well! Love it! 😀 There is nothing better than feeling pretty 😀
Also that recipe looks amazing 😀 I might have to give it a go so we can compare 😀
